Ziplining & around Pana

Although I am writing this Sunday morning, this is the account of Saturday's adventures.  After a nice breakfast at the Deli outside the hotel, I took a Tuk Tuk (refer to picture) to embark on a Ziplining adventure through the rainforest.  And quite an adventure this was.  Not just one Zipline but 8 on the way down after a 20-25 minute climb.  I only ran into one guide (didn't brake soon enough) but after that I got the hang of it.  Highly recommend this on everyone's bucket list! Spend some time along the streets of Pana & talking with Geovany (tour guide).  Four of us ate at a pizza place & bought an extra which we handed out to some children along the street--the squeals of delight will always be in my memory.  I also handed out some of the maple sypur candies which were obviously very much liked--their eyes lit up and a huge smile beamed from those receiving them.  Last evening's meal was at a nice restaurant close to the hotel and although we attempted to go do some merengue, there was some police involvement at all the local clubs checking paperwork, copyright licenses, etc., so we returned to the hotel early.  Leceta met a little guy, Thomas while here last year and he's been with us daily--following along trying to sell his goods.  He is 10 years old with the saddest eyes.  We've met his mother and little sisters.  He works all day from early morning til late selling his goods.  When we left him last night at the hotel gate, my heart ached for him as I am sure he would not have the comfy bed I was going into.  However, we'll probably see him today.  Today's plan is a boat ride on Lake Atitlan with a visit to a community, then back to the hotel to meet the bus which will take us to the mission home.  This is the start of our work week so it's very exciting.  Stay tuned.
